WYFP: same old, same old

Hi.  Welcome to another week of WYFP.  I'm AR2, your host, and for those of you who have read my previous whingings in this column:  I'm still broke, the refrigerator is still broken, the furnace still needs replacing, and the car still needs work.

The dryer is also threatening to break.  This will be the second time this decade that the dryer needs repair.  The last time, my mother gave me her umbrella-style clothesline that she wasn't using.  I begged my roommate to help me put it up.  He refused as he didn't want his clothes line-dried.  So here we are again, same story, same impasse.  Does anyone here know how to put up a post clothesline, can it be done solo with hand tools, and is it worth doing this late in summer?

The house is a mess.  Neither of us has energy to clean.  My roommate is overworked; I'm overwhemed and see it as a futile task (major depressive disorder may be partly to blame here).  The only thing I feel after cleaning isn't pride, clarity, or joy--it's exhaustion.  And if I'm already tired, which I invariably am, why bother?  It's not like the house will stay clean.  Especially since Spicer, our diabetic cat, continues to pee on the carpet.

My plantar fasciitis is flaring up.  It's aggravated by me being too heavy.  I'm in enough pain to avoid walking.  However, this also means I'm not exercising, which isn't helping my weight any.  It's a circle:  feet hurt, too fat/Can't exercise, feet hurt.  I was running across the street Wednesday when I felt something snap in my left foot.  Intense pain!  Since then I've been limping.  I see a doctor Wednesday afternoon.

Roommate and I are both in job limbo.  He's waiting for a concrete offer from a firm he's been negotiating with and I'm waiting for paperwork to go through on a job I want.  In the meantime I get to hear him agonize over giving up his business, beat himself up for how badly our standard of living has deteriorated, and freak out that they'll decide not to make him an offer after all.  I try to be supportive, but repetition drives me crazy and it's been almost three weeks.  I kissed another week goodbye Wednesday, when I found out the firm's head honcho was gone until (possibly through) Monday.  Yay.  Meanwhile, I keep putting in my two three-hour shifts per week at the fast-food place.  Take your time with the paperwork guys, it's only another week of me being told to hurry up, go a little faster, drive-thru needs more speed...just another week of being reminded of how I'm less than.

And I had to type my headline in backwards because Kindle still won't type forward in the title line.  At least I'm getting faster at that!  What's your FP tonight?
